Astrid Cabin Montana
Experience north-western Montana from this exceptionally well-maintained log cabin, minutes from Glacier National Park and only a short drive from world class skiing in Whitefish. You will fall in love with the silence and the night sky, the comfort of a wood fire or the thrill of a mountain hike. Biking, fishing, wildlife viewing, white water rafting, river boating, zip lining, skiing and snowmobiling, all within reach. Imagine one of the most beautiful places on Earth. You're almost there.
We fell in love with the cabin and the location at first sight. This is our vacation home and we plan to retire there one day, so please treat it like your own. On a clear night, the views of the night sky are amazing. There is public access to the nearby lakes for canoeing or paddle boarding. National Forest access only a short walk away. Easy drive to Whitefish Mountain Resort.
There is no public transportation, you will need a reliable car. The closest town is Columbia Falls, 8 miles away. While the roads are properly maintained by the county, due to heavy snow, winter access may require a 4 wheel drive car.
The neighbors are private and they all have respect for the mountains and surrounding wilderness. Up the North Fork, only a few miles away, one can experience the exceptional hiking away from normal tourist routes. The Glacier National Park is indeed the "Crown of the Continent". In the winter, it is possible to access Whitefish Mountain Resort using National Forest roads via snowmobile, but the trails are not always open. There are opportunities for all sorts of outdoor activities.
The Glacier Park International Airport in Kalispell is only 17 minutes away. 15-20 minutes to the west entrance of the Glacier National Park, 8-10 minutes to grocery shopping, post office and dining in Columbia Falls, 30-35 minutes to Whitefish fine dining and skiing. A trip to Canada is also possible, only 3 hours to Waterton Lakes National Park right across the border and 5 hours to Banff.
